Macdonald Portal Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Tarporley

I had high hopes for a relaxing getaway, but my experience was quite mixed. The hotel itself was nestled in a lovely setting with ample parking, and my room was certainly comfortable. However, the chaos during breakfast and the service at dinner left a lot to be desired. While there's potential here, the dining experience really overshadowed the positives.

While the rooms were spacious and warm, the dining situation left us disappointed, particularly during the Christmas party that required an inconvenient shuttle to a cold clubhouse. The service was friendly, but the overall dining quality did not meet expectations, especially for the price.
